New peeve: computer disintegration!
The case to my 2006 MacBook is coming apart in splintery shards underneath the areas where I rest my wrists. I staved this off as long as possible by using a Speck case, but I think that the case wasn’t allowing the computer to cool effectively, and I’ve taken it off. My computer is performing a little better, thanks to the disrobing and also thanks to removing some apps and extensions I wasn’t using, but it’s still a little slow.
Oh, yes, and now it’s stabbing me. In the wrists. When you hear about my apparent suicide on CNN (Woman found dead; wrists slit with polycarb shards) someone call in and tell them to look at my Mac.
The computer is still for the most part working OK, so I don’t know how I’m going to get around this particular challenge. I guess I could tape wrist rests onto it, but that would put closing my notebook on the list of not feasible activities.
Note to self: next time, buy computer with titanium case.

I had insurance and the Apple Store just replaced the case on my MacBook. Maybe you should spring for a new case. Better than wrist injury. And next time, we will both go for titanium.
Well, great, now I’m going to have “Mack the Knife” stuck in my head all night… Is it too far gone for duct tape?
The Mac store once replaced my keyboard AND surrounding area (including the area you’re having a problem with) for free… it depends on who you get and how good a case (ha!) you make… I was past warranty, so I really did just luck out.
