From scratch.

John McCain’s acceptance speech.

That bit toward the end about having been an arrogant jerk and how he came to love America more than himself was actually good. Too bad he ended every sentence with a creepy, forced smile; it made almost everything he said seem insincere.

He actually seemed most natural, human and approachable in the moments after the protester was hauled off. His off the cuff comment made him seem for a brief moment connected to what was going on around him.

The rest nearly put me to sleep. It really is a shame that he wasted the whole speech making policy sound like the most boring topic on earth. Even if I disagree, I still enjoy a good speech better than one that sounds half asleep.

One of the reasons we used to really like McCain was (oh, this is so sad I’m admitting this, oh poor weak minded victim of the vast left wing conspiracy and liberal media that I am ;) ) was his “character” on The Daily Show. A great natural comedian who could roll with the punches and performed well in the stress-critical situations that made other politicians vaporlock. He was a natural and made it look easy, like he really believed what he was saying. And then he became a Bush apologist and always had to be defending ridiculous and arbitrary policies and it seemed like something broke inside him.

I’d really like to believe that should he win, it won’t be so bad and with power and security, we’ll see the old McCain back. I could deal with the cronyism if I could get the President I believed that man could be four years ago. If he lives. Did you hear about the group praying for his death so that Palin will be Pres? Yikes. Way to take the fun out of fundy, guys.
