Re: Sarah Palin (or, If I were a right-wing nut job….)

If I were a conservative evangelical Christian, I’d be thinking thusly:

What in heaven’s name is Sarah Palin doing being Governor of Alaska with 5 kids at home?  What kind of good Christian mother leaves her children at home to be educated outside the home, where they could be infiltrated by other people’s values?  THEY MIGHT LEARN SCIENCE!!

But I’m not.  So instead I just think /she’s/ the nut job.

1) She sued the Bush Administration for declaring polar bears an endangered species… because that would hinder her plan to drill the bleeding shit out of Alaska.

2) She’s part of an organization called “Feminists for LIfe,” which at its face doesn’t sound like such a bad thing.  Feminists can be pro-life while recognizing it’s none of their damn business to meddle with the interior of anyone else’s uterus, right?  Nooooooooooo.  (Well, I mean, feminists CAN think that way, but it isn’t the case with Feminists for Life.)  Nope.  They think abortion is wrong no matter the case – incest, rape, risk to the mother’s life.

3) John McCain is 72 and has survived cancer like a hundred times.  (Or at least a handful.)  This makes her so much closer to being president than I am even comfortable thinking about.

4) She may or may not actually be the grandmother of her 4-month-old “son,” possibly covering for her unwed 17-year-old daughter’s pregnancy.  To summarize, her pregnancy was a total surprise to her coworkers when it was announced at her “7 month mark.”  Pictures do not indicate much showing.  Her daughter had been out of school for 4 months before the child’s birth, supposedly with extended mono.  And in the family’s Christmas photo, who looks pregnant here?

Personally I couldn’t give less of a crap whether or not Bristol was unwed or pregnant.  Or both, as the case may be.  And it’s not that I want Sarah Palin in the white house to start with, but especially not if she’ll lie to cover up for her daughter while simultaneously showing no holds barred on telling other women what to do with their bodies.

I guess with more media attention this rumor will eventually be verified.  What a disaster for the McCain/Palin campaign.

OK, I just had to add the lagging, nagging thought in my head.  Either Sarah Palin is lying to cover up for her daughter, which is icky.  Or she showed some reckless abandon in boarding a plane with leaking amniotic fluid to take a 12-hour flight back to Alaska to deliver this child.  What does that say about her pro-life beliefs?  I’m pro-life, but if the kid has Down’s I don’t really care about delivering safely?  What would this say about her doctor – bordering on malpractice so that her child wouldn’t be a Texan, as Mr. Palin weakly joked?  I know I’m babbling a little bit, but for the love – something is not right here.

Man, the more I hear about this woman, the less I like her. The thing with her daughter adds a little more icing to the cake, though I have to say I was truly disgusted because it really felt to me that she was rather “ZOMG! LOOK I HAVE A KID WITH DOWNS SYNDROME! BECAUSE I AM ANTI ABORTION! LOOK AT MY KID! I HAD HIM JUST SO I COULD PROVE TO YOU ALL HOW ANTI ABORTION I WAS!”

Yeah, I got the sense that the child was just a political move to prove her dedication to her little fucked up cause. That sense doesn’t really change in the light of the fact that it might not really be her child. These people are such scum.

This woman is perfect for McBush — a die-hard Bushie, Republican party-liner through and through. In essence, she is Doroles Umbridge. You-know-who must be very pleased at the McBush/Umbridge ticket

I agree. How utterly irresponsible for a 72 year old man, whose father and grandfather died of heart disease in their 60′s and was reluctant to share his medical records,to choose someone so completely inappropriate.

We are all hoping the Republican ticket goes down in flames. And thank you, Gustav, for reminding us about the tragedy and mishandling of Katrina.

Mainstream news today is reporting that Bush, Cheney and Schwartzenegger will not be speaking at the convention and it may have to be shortened to just one day. However, I have seen nothing at all about Sarah Palin’s pesonal history.

Palin is going to be the Tom Eagleton of the GOP.

There are lingering doubts about the story she is telling about the birth of her latest child, who has Down’s Syndrome, and who was reportedly born a month prematurely. In reality, it wasn’t Palin herself who had that child, it was her 16 year old daughter.

Palin didn’t announce that she was preggers to her staffers for several months even though nothing sells in politics, especially in winger land, like motherhood.

Then eight months pregnant, she says, she flew to an energy conference in Texas, where, during the night, she started leaking amniotic fluid. Her water broke and even though she supposedly knew that the baby was going to have Down’s Syndrome, which also brings with it possible severe complications, she made the speech and then, after getting the okay to FLY FOR 12 HOURS BACK TO ALASKA despite the threat of sepsis, which could have killed both her and the child, she landed in Seattle, talked to the physician, who said it was okay for her to make her connecting flight back to Alaska.

She arrived in Alaska and gave birth the next morning.

Now my mother is a former pediatric nurse (retired in 2000 after about 30 years on the job) and she told me this story is “fishier than tuna” and finds it “unbelievable” that a physician would allow her to get back on a plane rather than urging her to immediately seek medical attention. At the very least, Palin acted negligently and my mother thinks that the physician did not tell her to get on that plane.

And none of the flight attendants noticed any signs of pregnancy or medical distress on Palin’s part.

Here is likely what really happened:

At 4 a.m. Texas time, she gets a cellphone call that her daughter’s water had broken. Palin had to keep the story congruent with what was happening to her daughter, so she told everyone her water had broken when that was not the case. She called her daughter’s physician before she got on the plane and flew to Seattle and then called him again before flying on home. The daughter gave birth the next morning.

Oh, I didn’t mention one thing: Palin’s daughter had been pulled out of school five months before she gave birth, ostensibly for “mono.” In a lot of neighborhoods in America, “mono” is a code word for “I got knocked up” or “I did some time in a correctional facility” among juveniles. How convenient.

Palin had to maintain this charade because she didn’t want her Christian Right followers to know that her daughter had given birth out of wedlock and sinned. She has thus lied to the media and the American people and she will be greeted like Linda Smith (the murderer) by her evangelical following, who she also lied to, if she is found out.

The selection of her by McCain also follows a pattern of behavior. He has always been highly impulsive, his native impatience marked by his refusal, for example, to read flight manuals while he was in the Navy. He was protected by his father, a big shot admiral, and could get away with it. He womanized like it was going out of style and crashed at least four airplanes (millions in taxpayer money, also making him a worse pilot turned pol than Bob Dornan) before he was shot down by the North Vietnamese. But even there, he was treated relatively gently compared to the treatment meted out to other and lesser known prisoners.

His first wife saw him through his convalescence and then he jumped into an affair with his current wife. His impulsiveness raised its head again after meeting Palin just once before naming her his VP nominee.

Once she is found out and forced to step down, that will make McCain’s presidential bid a Campaign to Nowhere. Neither of these two has the integrity to be the leader of the free world. And the above demonstrates that amply.

As for the physician, who has backed up Palin’s story, there are one of either two motives at work here: one, he or the medical group he might be a part of didn’t want to lose a high powered client or possible further state business. It will be interesting to see if any Alaska state money ends up in this guy’s bank account for state-related things other than treating Palin.

Secondly, he could want to be the next Bill Frist and run for office and Palin’s connections could help him a lot there.

Whatever the case, both her and he are lying, I believe.

I don’t think the pictures in either of those links demonstrates conclusively that she looked pregnant. In fact, in the picture at the zoo the daughter behind the tree looks pregnant (and as if she’s hiding.)

Palin: She has next to no experience in government. When ask about national security back ground or knowledge regarding foreign affairs the best Ms. McCain could come up with was “she lives right by Russia.” She has only traveled outside the country twice in her life.

She was associated with to a 3rd party which among other things supports allowing Alaska to secede from the United States and feels the only thing wrong with the John Birch Society was it was to liberal! Her husband “First Dude” was registered as a member of this party between 1994 and 2004!

She tried to have a local Librarian fired for not banning books. She used her political office to try to have fired and smear a state trooper who is in a custody battle with her sister. She is being investigated for this and is worried enough about the outcome to have recently “lawyered up.”

Palin currently has pretty messy family issues. She recently gave birth to a son with Downs Syndrome and has a 17 year old daughter who is pregnant. Ironically she has fought sex education in the schools and availability of contraception for minors. I am glad she was able to make the choice to carry her disabled son to term…we all need the right to make our own choices!!!

She believes that for 9 months a woman has no right to control what is happening to her own body and is basically nothing more than a baby container. She does not believe in a women’s right to choose to end a pregnancy, even if she has been raped.

She does not believe human pollution has anything to do with global warming (even Bush has had to back down on this one). Is so in bed with big oil she is willing to watch as the polar bear and beluga whales become extinct, rather than slow the possibility of drilling. She would open up one of the last great wilderness on earth to exploitation by oil interests.

She laughed when hearing a fellow Republican woman being called a bitch in public (she and the woman had disagreed on several issues) I guess this does make her on par with McCain who thinks it is alright to call your wife a cunt in public.

She has been repeatedly described as stubborn with a vicious streak – even by family and friends. (nick name Sarah Barracuda)

Has an undergraduate degree in Journalism for a small obscure university.

She did fund raising for Sen. Ted Stevens (think major Alaskan corruption) and accepted money from the same sources as Sen. Ted Stevens. She pushed for the “bridge to no where – the flipped when convenient to do so.

She has been named Sen. John McCain’s VP selection for the Republican ticket. Sen. McCain is 72 years old and has reoccurring cancer as part of his health history. One can not help but question Mr. McCain’s judgment regarding her selection. John McCain has made a calculated choice in selecting his VP, that has unfortunately put an undereducated, inexperienced right wing nut case a “heart beat” away from becoming President at a time when our Nation faces some of the most complex and volatile issues it has in decades. I VOTE FOR A PERSON BASED ON THEIR STAND ON THE ISSUES – NOT THEIR PLUMBING!!

    PUMAS eat Barracudas for breakfast!!!!
