Shrink wrap for girls

So, people, I have purchased a bridesmaid’s dress for my friend Christine’s wedding.  (Squee!)

I have five months to get into this dress.  I bought it in a Size 8 because it was all they had left remotely close to my current size.  I’m currently in the high end of 10s – Size 12s are loose on me, though wearable.

I feel confident I’ll get into this dress by November.

However.

Being practical involves acknowledging that I may not reach my goal.  And I’d hate for this dress to go to waste.  My waist tends to be tinier than the rest of me, which will bode well for the dress, but I may need just a little shrink-wrapping to get me the rest of the way there.  I’ve heard good reviews from people about corset shapers taking off the extra size or two that they needed to get into their (wedding, bridesmaid, etc) dress.

Things like this, for example.

Anyone have any human shrink-wrappers they have liked and recommend?  I have some time before I need to buy this, so I’m welcoming any and all recommendations.

Eek. Honestly, I would be telling the bride that the dress didn’t come in my size. Why on earth would someone select a dress without making sure all her bridemaids are going to be comfortable in it?

Ha, no, it wasn’t like that. It was discontinued long after she picked it. I was just dragging my feet on purchasing it while it was still generally available because I didn’t want to commit to buying a size. I’m pretty sure it’ll work out in the end anyway – I don’t have that far to go to get into the dress I bought.

I’ve heard good things about Spanx, though I’ve never worn them myself. http://www.spanx.com/home/index.jsp Might be more comfortable (but less sexy) than an actual corset?

I hadn’t thought of that – I didn’t know Spanx made anything but stockings (which I’ve worn before).

Look! A strapless cami shaper thing! http://www.spanx.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2990102&cp=2992553.3015048&parentPage=family

    Good call!

I like spanx – they’re very good for shaping. I like them – and, they’re much better than other brands out there… THEY STAY PUT!!!
