One day off!
Today is my first day off in Sami’s entire life. So, since September 9, 2006.
Sami woke up chipper and healthy, so I took her to day care as usual, and then proceeded to take the day off from work.
I got on top of some loose strings at work (from home) and then sat and stared into space for a moment while I contemplated that I had no idea what I was going to do with myself. I almost went to work! Egad.
First, I picked up a free antique spinning wheel from someone on Craigslist. It… is a little wobbly. Missing a few minor parts, but according to The Whole Craft of Spinning, which came with it, the things that I believe to be wrong are minor and reparable. This will require some elbow grease and time, but in time, I’ll get there.
Now, I’m sitting in the coffee shop having breakfast, knitting, and remembering what it was like when I wasn’t somebody’s mom. I miss Sami, but it’s nice having this time to myself.
So here are my objectives for my day to myself:
- Get my eyebrows done. (Probably myself, but still. Needs to be done.)
- Finish $&@#)^& Sock #1! And hopefully start Sock #2 so I can make some headway on it tomorrow, while I’m passing Sami hand to hand among Ben and our friends. (Long shot, but hoping.)
- Take a walk and/or run.
- Then a shower.
- Read something fun.
- Paint my toenails. (I’d do my fingernails, but it would look funny since I’m missing the middle fingernail on my left hand. Well, maybe I’ll do it anyway.)
- Whatever else I have time for.
